Is a Tijuana Med Spa Safe? The 7-Point Checklist We'd Use Ourselves

Medical tourism to Tijuana is enormous, and like any large market it contains both excellent clinics and places you should walk away from. This is the checklist we'd give a family member — and yes, we'll say plainly how Belessa answers each point, because you should demand answers from any clinic you consider.

1. Is a physician actually involved?

Injectables and energy-based treatments should start with a medical assessment, not a sales conversation. Ask who evaluates you and who is accountable. At Belessa, medical procedures begin with an assessment by Dr. Ana Valeria Pérez, and each specialty line is run by a certified specialist.

2. Can they name the device — and can you verify it?

"Radiofrequency" means nothing; "InMode Morpheus8" is checkable. Legitimate clinics name their platforms — ours are Morpheus8, Lumecca, Soprano Titanium Special Edition, Celluma Pro, Geneo X — and will show you the machine.

3. Are prices published?

Quote-only pricing invites the tourist price. Our full 2026 menu is printed and public at mibelessa.com/en/services, in USD, per session.

4-7: products, hygiene, follow-up, and pressure

Ask to see product packaging opened in front of you (brand-name toxin and fillers have verifiable packaging). Observe basic clinical hygiene — it's visible within a minute of walking in. Ask what follow-up looks like: a real clinic keeps a record of what was done and when you should return, not just a payment receipt. And the biggest red flag of all: pressure to decide today. A clinic confident in its work will happily let you leave and think.

However you choose, cross informed. And if you'd like to evaluate us against this list, a $25 virtual consultation — credited to any treatment — is the lowest-risk way to do it from your couch in San Diego.
